Rochester, NY, is first became know as the flour city due to all of the flour mills along the Genesee River. As Rochester, NY, changed over time the city and surrounding areas became known for their park like settings and many gardens. Rochester, NY, became known as the Flower City and many often think of Highland Park which is full of Lilacs.
